Finding friendship with robot cats

Mom loved animals.  At family gatherings, she always gravitated to my big dog Betty, ignoring the rest of us.  “Yoo hoo,” she would coo, content to sit on the couch, petting her and sharing secrets which the rest of us talked.  It was the same when a dog visited supported living.  All the residents would take turns to pet the small dog, taking delight in the moments they shared.

Recently I heard of a wonderful new invention – robotic cats.  Furry little creatures, they purr when petted, mew for attention, turn on their backs and stretch so their bellies can be rubbed.  Perfect companions!  They are increasingly being introduced to people living with dementia.
They bring joy, calm and love.

Mom would have loved one. Who wouldn’t?
