The Value of Improv

Occasionally people express their fears about communicating with a person living with dementia.  “What will we talk about?  I don’t know what to say.”

My advice is to relax and join them in real time – their time, their reality.  With no attempt to “bring them back” to your reality.

Then I heard about the value of improv for which the cardinal rule is “yes and…”  not “No but.
